Wool wash, blocking needs and aftercare

Detergent | Wool & Cashmere 500ml
new Wool & Cashmere Organic Detergent is particularly gentle and can be used with all fibres.  It consists of easily biodegradable ingredients and soapwort extract - a plant that has been used for washing laundry since the Middle Ages. 

Wool & Cashmere Organic Detergent with soapwort extract is a universal detergent for hand and machine washing. The soapwort extract ensures a mild wash. It can be used with delicate fibres such as alpaca, cashmere and silk. Regardless of the water hardness, it can be used with temperatures between 86° F (30°C) and 203° F (95°C). The lactic acid in the detergent ensures natural softening of the water and reduces limescale deposits in the washing machine thus minimizing the use of decalcifying agents and fabric softeners.

All ingredients are biodegradable and made from renewable raw materials.

The detergent is certified by ECO-Control according to the latest Nature Care Products Standard NCP. This standard is an environmental label for everyday care products including washing and cleaning agents made from natural ingredients that do not pollute the environment.

Sweater Care Pop-up Dryer
Sweater Care Pop-up Dryer is plastic-free and made with eco-friendly materials including: cotton mesh, metal D-rings, and a silicone sleeve for the internal wire edging. The Pop-up Dryer helps air-dry hand washables more quickly by allowing increased airflow above and below your garment. Simply open the Pop-up Dryer, adjust the straps with the D-rings, place it on a towel, blocking mat, or water-resistant surface, and lay your damp item over the mesh.

Whether they are machine or hand washable, this dryer will help your knits look their best for years to come.

Fuzz of Comb
The Fuzz Off Comb II is an updated more compact design of the Fuzz Off Comb (original).

Keep your garments looking fresh and pill-free with this gentle steel comb, which efficiently removes fiber fuzz buildup. This updated design is easier to hold and has a cover that clicks into place. The steel comb is still replaceable and works with the same Cocoknits COMB REFILLS. The body is 100% biodegradable PLA, made from plant fiber.

Knitter’s Block
First-time blockers are always amazed by the difference blocking makes to the final appearance of their knitting. After blocking, sweater parts lie flat, stitches even out, and what looked like a wild mess now behaves nicely. It’s like magic! After 20 years of teaching knitting, I’ve never grown tired of instructing my students on finishing techniques. In fact, the technique of blocking is one of my favorite things to demonstrate. I used to demonstrate blocking with pieces of carpet, but carpet scorched easily and was too thin for blocking pins to sink into. Rugs, towels and bulky blocking boards weren’t much better. Many of my students didn’t bother to block because it was such a cumbersome task. With this in mind, I set out to improve on the carpet pieces.I eventually had special tiles custom made to create the ideal blocking mats, and the end result is my Knitter’s Block Kit.

T-Pins
T-pins are an essential part of our Knitter’s Block Kit. We sell extra T-pins in case you find you need more. If you aren’t sure if your T-pins are stainless, soak them overnight in a shallow dish of water. If they rust, do not use them! Cocoknits T-pins are stainless steel – which means they won’t rust when they get wet during blocking – very important after you’ve spent many hours and euros on a project!

Sweater Care Pop-up Dryer
The Sweater Care Brush allows you to refresh and rejuvenate your textiles so they look their best and last for years. Not only does it depill and fluff up mohair and alpaca, it removes lint and other fibers from clothing and household fabrics. 

The natural boar bristles are much more effective and less staticky than the usual synthetic bristles. The smooth oval body is comfortable in the hand and made from sustainable bamboo. The cotton twill handle completes its functionality and beautiful look.
